A student of mine is looking to purchase this as a practice horn and I was wondering if I could get some opinions from some more repair-knowledgeable people about anything that might be concerning about the horn. I am about to reach out to the seller for more information, but wanted to see if I could get anything here, too.

(I know we can only speculate but sometimes an experienced eye can catching something in the photo that I didn't notice and that often happens in the posts in this section)

This model of horn would be just fine as a practice horn. I owned and performed with one of these horns for three years and really enjoyed it. The tone is full and even and everything is manageable. The only drawback is that this is a tall and big horn. This may not be an issue depending on the size of your student. I used a drum stand with mine and it worked very well. Good luck with your search!

assume the worst in the parts you can't see.
3rd valve knuckle probably badly chewed up.
small side of bottom bow probably chewed up and D-shaped.
But these are fixable, and the valves on yamahas are usually good and tight even on rough instruments.
