I bought that same mug from the engraving shop at Sears in 1984. It was common back then. This Sears-sold beer mug has made it into several movies and TV shows as a prop over the years.

Mine cost me $14 (with the additional cost of $6 for engraving my DCI nickname) at that time. I drank many, many beers out of it while in the Army. I probably have neurological damage from the metal that rivals the number of deceased brain cells from the beer...
In the multiverse there is a TubeNet where we talk about how we greased our cat with toothpaste and hot sauce so it would fly better in the rain. Even then someone would ask whether the cat was lacquered or silver plated.
