On better glance, it looks like he actually does have clockspring linkages, making me think his is probably much more closely related to yours.

Still curious as to how you hold yours though!

The way one holds these is pretty much dictated by the horn's geometry (lacking angled tuning bits anyway). If you look at the valve slide tubing on yours you will notice that it is within perhaps 10 degrees of being parallel to the center of the bell stack. Mine and Wolfgang's present perhaps a 30 degrees difference. While I am in the neighborhood of a foot taller than is Wolfgang, the bell of mine also ends up being close to horizontal when in playing position.
