Is this a particularly unusual Helleberg?

Over $200 for a Conn Helleberg seems a bit extreme. I don't even think that this is old enough to make it any different from a new helleberg.

What is an original?
What makes them more desirable?
If these are in bad shape can they be restored?
Does anyone have any good photos of one?

Allow me to show my ignorance and ask the obvious.

Other than the external design of the old ones, precisely how do these things differ from the current Hellebergs and their endless clones? In particular, how does this make them worth $400?

Wouldn't it be cheaper to simply ask any of the numerous mouthpiece makers if they have the dimensions in their files and could they pretty please whip one up without the dents and scratches?

Are these made of some magic material, like playgoodium?
:?

I thought playgoodium was usually around 110 proof and came in a bottle.
You nnow, you unscrew the top and take a drink, then ALL of the music sounds better.
Hmmm, I thought that was mellotonium.

Oops! Sorry, my mistake.
Not, of course, to be confused with the non-alcoholic version (mellophonium) ...

Dang, I was hoping to break $300. :( I guess the bloom is off that rose.
Let's see how this one does anyways:

Maybe this is a dumb question.....

BUT....if the orginal Conn Helleberg mouthpiece design was so special, why did they change it? Was it cost of production?

Naw... just so's the old ones would fetch more money, and thus create a greater demand for replacement! (besides, where else can you see a neck like that without having to fold down a page?!)
