Has anyone ever seen this particular model of Conn before? I mean, I get that its essentially just a 24J with long action valves and all.. but something about it is just so foreign looking for me.

They are great tubas. Just the top action version of your 36J and plays pretty much the same. The 30J was the 3 valve version. Yes both basically long action 2XJ's. This one was for sale a while back and there was a 30J for sale too at the same time.
