It might be like one of those Chinese bugles they bury for a few months and then dent to claim it to be a “CSA original Civil War” item...

Wait... Are you allowed to sell things ya don't own? Anyone interested in a bridge? (We'll need 4 of course)

Or perhaps this harkens back to yesteryear, when herds of wild tubas roamed the prairies, grazing in the flats and among the clefs. And you could make a good living wrangling and busting them, breaking them to a valve section... Those were the best tubas, because if you didn't know the music, you could let it pick its way amongst the trick rhythms and keys, and it would bring you safe to the root of the chord.
