Great price for a really nice 5rv 4/4 CC :!: This tuba is definitely worth more than $2k.
I honestly don't know why this model never became more popular. I know 4/4 rotary tubas are not as popular as the larger York-style piston tubas, but imo this model plays/sounds BETTER than the more 'popular' equivalent offerings from other makers. I mean, these VMI/B&S-made 'Musica' tubas play/sound great, are made just as well as any Meinl or Miraphone, and only go for used Cerveny prices

Thanks, hrender and tubagrowl. I picked this one up yesterday. It plays easily with a nice sound and, on top of that, good intonation. Looks barely used.

The seller had it for a high school student whose instructor told him he should get a C tuba if he was serious. But he likes the school issued Bb tuba, which is also rotary but a lot heftier, so he's chosen to be serious with that instead, and the C tuba has gone unused.

Congrats. I was trying my hardest to figure out how to buy this and get it to Ohio. Thanks for taking that challenge away from me, lol.

I'm glad I could help :)

There's another for sale on TubeNet, if you still want a challenge. This tuba somehow looks less complicated than a 5v CC 186, even though it has as much tubing and as many valves. Maybe it's just not as tightly wrapped.

When I picked this one up, I could see that some crinkles had been straightened on the bell, and when I took it to my repair guy to get the sticky (misaligned) tuning slide fixed ($15), he said something like, "I saw that tuba about 6 weeks ago to straighten out the bell. It was pretty bad." He did a great job, and I got a good price. I really like the sound, and how easily it plays for me (compared to a BBb 186).
