Turn-of-the-century R.A.Kaempf 4r Eb (?)

Post by KingBassTrombone »

I spotted this the other day. It's not documented on Horn-U-Copia. Eb is my best guess of key. Please, someone buy it and preserve it before I make a poor financial decision again!

Reinhard A. Kaemph was born in Germany and made brass instruments in New York 1878-c.1885. R.A. Kaemph & Son continued c.1885-1911 according to the New Langwill. Reinhard sold his interest in 1904 and then went to work for Keefer.

Instead of talking to your plants, if you yelled at them would they still grow, but only to be troubled and insecure?

If someone on here got it, and cares to share how it turns out, i'm all ears. Definitely 4 or 5 cat lethal dosages of curiosity. But of course, no worries. Understood that it's an added effort.

I actually expect it to BBb after seeing the dimensions in the listing and counting the number of wraps, but considering the unique configuration, hard to say at a glance.

I certainly ain't seen anything else quite like it, string linkages, rotary valves out of plain with the wrap, and the layout of the valve loops... Man, it is cool!

And thanks windshieldbug for the historical details on the maker. Knowing he joined Keefer around the transition from Distin, and seeing the bell engraving picture here, which i find reminiscent of Kruspe in style, all just amplifies my curiosity.
Thanks for playing!

I did not get it but know of two others exactly like it...it is in CC! Multi port rotors similar to Paine rotary valves also...
