That's funny my hometown is Elkhart. We used to be the band capital of the world; now we make RVs....... :(

Now, here's where I would post a link, but I'm on my phone now...
Do you know when the auction ended? My stuff was probably stolen on the 22nd or 23rd (last Fri and Saturday), and I've been checking ebay everyday since since Sunday for them but I haven't seen them.

I would contact/fax music stores and pawn shops in Shreveport as well.

I was in Elkhart in May. The RV factories looked shut down on a weekday. The huge Hummer plant had about 70 cars in the parking lot.

One of the old mainstay instrument manufacturing companies had 4 cars in the parking lot. Four. How sad for America. How terrible for Elkhart.

Last I read, Elkhart's unemployment was around 12% reported and probably 18% in reality.

Hopefully it shows up soon. You should post a photo every so often to remind everybody what it looks like. We all play in enough groups, see enough groups and buy enough tubas that a horn as unique looking as yours would be easy to spot. Hope it comes home soon.

True! My guess is that it's already been melted down. But I'm still keeping hope. Thanks for all the advice and everyone please be on the lookout! here is a pic

A friend just bought a Think electric car. The company is Norwegian, but he said they were being made in Elkhart.

To keep things a bit more on topic, hope the stolen tuba is found. I will keep an eye out for it.

For what it's worth, my stolen tuba sat in a basement for three years and then showed up on ebay, quickly recognized, and picked up in a police sting. Not saying that it's a common story, but, you know, you never know.

Yeah, that's the outcome I'm hoping for, if it hasn't been melted down already. I'm sure it'll turn up somewhere eventually.

"Found in a church basement during renovations.." no way they could be dishonest.

Since it was stolen four years ago, is it possible it was recovered, that TubaJohn and Jose are one in the same??

Now I am intrigued...

PM to 58mark:
Hello Mark
Have you considered removing today's "stolen tuba" post in the main section? The horn in question Conn 2x seems to have appeared in the "off site deals". Then discussed in 'tubenet' from cl ads it appears that the seller knows something about tubas so he might be on the site from time to time, this might interfere or compromise investigation and recovery.
Thanks, Joe
If anyone has a quick contact to Mark run this by him, thanks,Joe

PS Good sleuthing TNFJ and best wishes for recovery.

Yeah it's mine. I didn't even notice they're the same pictures I took. That's in my old house! I'm going to contact the seller because this is very strange. May be a scam but who knows. Luckily insurance has long paid for this horn but I'd love to get it back still if this is a legit post. Thanks y'all

Definitely a scam. Seller won't allow play testing just wants to ship it outright sight unseen even though he states no shipping on his ad. He offered to send me a check so that I can earn his "trust". Lol
