Once you are approved, you can access the new user forum. It's only there as a tool to combat spammers

I cannot see a New User Forum. Does it become invisible once you have made your first post?

Not exactly. Once you make a post with the required information, You are then hand approved to participate in the full forum. When that happens, you are removed from the new user group and you lose access to the previous group

It's strictly there as an anti spam measure

Here's what it looks like. There are two different pages with detailed instructions on what we want to see, and people still mess it up

That's the main way we cut down on spammers. We make them post an introduction post and give a background of their tuba /euphonium experience (just general stuff, it's not a resume) and if they sound genuine I remove them from the new members group and they are allowed to participate in the full forum

The biggest pain is when somebody doesn't see the parts that says "do not post more than once, because it may take a few days to get activated"

And then they post 5 times, which takes 5 times the work to activate them
