I wish Sean would . . .

Police this site more rigorously, with more locked threads and more inappropriate posters kicked off.

Christmas Wish Poll for TubeNet

I do not intend anything negative toward Sean with this poll - he has created a wonderful site here and done a great service to the tuba community. I just thought he might enjoy the results of this completely non-scientific Christmas wish poll.

Policing the forum by the members is expressly prohibited in Sean's FAQ. Or at least it used to be. I can't seem to find that any more. Policing ourselves is another matter.

Sean has never complained when members tried to influence in favor of or against certain types of posts through the art of persuasion, rather than through parental authority. He has tolerated some trolling, and blocked others, which tells me that he interprets each situation on its own merits, and in light of his current frame of mind. I have no problem with that--if Sean's direction bothered me, I'd just spend my time elsewhere.

To my thinking, it's Sean's forum which means we submit to Sean's rules, however he expresses those at the time. Without more direct expression from Sean, it won't stop me from complaining about posts that bother me. Of course, that means anyone can complain about what I post, too. Good debates are fun.

You will never find me, however, asking Sean to kill a thread, or asking others to stop posting to it. You will sometimes find me asking an offensive poster to change his behavior, or in some cases edit his post, with my reasons for doing so stated. Those reasons can be disputed, and the resulting debate can be useful or interesting for those who choose to follow it. If I'm not persuasive, then maybe I'm wrong.

Instead of talking to your plants, if you yelled at them would they still grow, but only to be troubled and insecure?

All I want for Christmas is a jar of Miracle Whip.

And some baloney and Roman Meal bread for a sandwich.
