I'm a volunteer moderator of McAfee's VirusScan Help Forum which uses this phpBB software. McAfee cautions the users in their TOS (Terms of Svc agreement) NOT to post any email addresses in the text as there is software out there that can harvest email addresses in which to spam. When we see an email address, we will edit that post to change it to something without the @ symbol. Like "rick<at>yahoo.com"
If the user has registered here and wants his email address to be shown, it will be available under the 'email' button at the bottom of the post.

Yes, that's true. But sometimes folks ask for someone's email address. I've seen that on many boards. On the old TUBNET, usually the reply would be, 'contact me privately' for that email address.
