Expiring threads?

Post by Daryl Fletcher »

I was wondering if it would be a good idea for threads in some parts of TubeNet, such as Off Topic, For Sale, or eBay to automatically expire and delete themselves after a period of time. Maybe if nobody replies to a topic after a month or two, the whole thread could simply be gone. I don't know if the software has a feature like that or if this is something that Sean would want to do.

I am, of course, in no position to grant or deny your request.

But I'm curious: why? At a glance, I can see nothing to gain by deleting old posts, and much to lose.

Is there any way to configure that option at the time of posting?

If the topic/thread originator had a radio button that could be clicked that would give the post an expiration date (similar to the poll), this may be appropriate for the "For Sale" and "eBay" sections.
