Hey, I resemble that remark! Except mine's one of the big pink parallogram shaped chunks, and my wife, with her professional printing background, actually has an electric one that looks like a small dremel with a pencil-shaped stick of white rubber you insert in the ferrule.Scooby Tuba wrote:Sheesh, I bet you guys use that rubbery thing on the end of your pencils, too!Tubaryan12 wrote:Dittoiiipopes wrote:Hey, Mister --- can we please have our ball back? I'd like to step up in Sean's defense. I believe he has his reasons for all of the things he has done recently, e.g. food pics and the buttons. As a teacher, I too have to make unpopular decisions that will inconvenience many but in the end they are good for the whole group. I think Sean has been getting just a wee bit too much flack and, no offense to any here, whining coming his way. I am pretty sure it is getting to where he is very frustrated with all of the negative feedback and constant hammering on anything he does to regulate his board. We all may want our ball back, but if we give too much in the way of problems he might just take his ball and go home. Playful prodding is all well and good, but sometimes it can be like pouring lemon juice in a paper cut. I will now retreat back to the safety of my computer chair.

CutePDF is either free or nominal, and installs as a printer driver so it works with all software that can print. I find the resulting PDF's to be accurate--sometimes more accurate than Acrobat. But they are not always as efficient (the files may be bigger than what is produced by Acrobat). I've never had one fail to open properly with Acrobat Reader.quinterbourne wrote:Is paying for Adobe Acrobat the only way to create PDF files if I'm working with a PC? Are there any free programs out there I can get my hands on?the elephant wrote:So, if you use a newer Macintosh, the function is built into the OS, much like the (also very cool) capability to save any document as a PDF. without the expense of Adobe Acrobat.
When I need to edit pre-existing PDF's, I use PDF Editor 2.5 Pro, which is less than half the price of Acrobat.

Thanks Rick,
This is off topic of this thread... but thanks for the suggestion on using 'CutePDF' to write pdf files. I just installed it and it works great!

Maybe Sean could give us back the 'edit' button but keep the 'delete' button hidden. At least then could make correction to typo's or misspellings in our posts.
Just a suggestion.

Eh, I use the Google Toolbar spellchecker on Firefox. Works fine.Captain Sousie wrote:https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/1022/
Should be a good spellchecker for firefox but I'm not sure on the details. Maybe somebody who actually knows something about this can give you the real answer.
