Just curious why there is no digital certificate on the site. That is now a universal standard. Some browsers default to not letting a user connect unless it is to https, which is a different port. Not everyone knows how to change their settings to allow http. Since the forum runs on a sub-domain, you would probably need to get a wildcard cert.
