TubeNet

I'm just wondering, will there be any rules for posting to be posted on this board? It could clarify what is considered a problem post that needs to be notified, and a not-so-troublesome post that would just keep the mods busy. There are lots of posts that are imported from the old TubeNet that I'm tempted on reporting, but I think we should just start with a clean slate from now on. Also, when this forum gets a bunch of mods, it would keep them on the same page.

Doc posted rules once. They are appropriate. Well, most of them.

Mostly, don't post anything to or about someone you would not say within arm's length of his balled fist.

I hope we don't have people complaining about posts too often using the official complaint button. That will complicate the lives of the moderators, and I find that people are more willing to complain than to just go on to the next post. The complaint button should be reserved for true abuse of the forum, and that ought to be defined on a case-by-case basis, which suggests against written rules.

I suspect the moderators will be rather reluctant to remove posts without offering plenty of warnings. As time goes on, the line between what is acceptable and what isn't will become clear enough without people arguing about what rules do or don't say.

Actually, feel free to use the report buttons. I get emails often about issues. I usually, to be honest, ignore it because most of them are opinions on what is appropriate. Occasionally they are obvious and need attention. With the report system I can see more of a pattern if several people see something.

The system is anonymous, from what I can tell. I don't make a habit of revealing the underlying gossip when I get emails unless the complainer is an idiot. Which has only been true a couple of times in the 13+ years of TubeNet.

There have been many times when I stumbled into a topic covered in food pictures. This does NOT solve the problem. I would MUCH rather have people use reports to notify moderators of issues and let the moderators decide if/how to deal with it.

I have also stumbled across stuff literally a year or longer old which needed attention and I was never aware even though several people had noticed. I can't catch it all. I am hoping others will help out by reporting.
