I just noticed that if you click on a persons profile you have the option of adding them as a friend or as a foe. Now I can see why people would use the friend option but what's up with the foe option? If I foe someone will tubenet send them spam mail?

From the board "FAQ":

If you add a user to your foes list, any posts they make will be hidden by default.

Are you certain this isn't simply a case of incorrect spelling. Maybe it should have read "tubafour" or "two by four." "Tuba Foe" just doesn't seem right.

Darn it!! Obviously, you weren't supposed to read them if they were no longer communicating with you! Now you've ruined it for them!

Why stop at a foes list? Do it right: make a throwaway account and start a "hater" poll".

I am certainly on the "Foe" list of a few members. That is a good thing. Whenever they accidentally come across one of my posts about bad behavior or ethics they fall apart and call me "mean." Now I can have some peace! If demanding decent behavior from those who interact with me is "mean" (meaning that I was able to make the crappy-acting person feel bad for being a crappy-acting person through the use of shame and decent GSP) then I am mean. I am also a fairly decent, well behaved individual with few vices and none that affect others (like driving like hell while yakking on the phone or treating service personnel poorly because I feel that I am somehow "better" than them).

Yep. Having personal standards and expecting others to not be assholes in public is really "mean." Funny, but many who whine about "meanness" are the very same people who do these self-involved things on a regular basis or treat others poorly without any consideration whatsoever to anyone but themselves.

To cope with the rotten wankers that seem to be surging to dominant status in public spaces one has to be a real meanie. Boo-hoo.

HA HA HA! MAKE ME YOUR TUBENET FOE! SHIELD YOUR POOR BEHAVIOR OR YOUR ARROGANCE FROM MY SCATHING MEANNESS! WOO-HOO! WHINERS!!!!!

Wade is the Tubenet arbiter of good taste, morals, ethics.....you name it.
I think that mojo needs to add me to his Foe list. In fact, I think that he needs to add all of us to his Foe list. Then no one can contradict him or tell him that he is off base saying that he deserves gigs more than the DC military guys the he keeps "losing" his gigs to.

Phil, click on my user name to go to my profile. Click Add Foe. You will never seem my posts again. Bye!
And not be able to read your egotistical, braggart, self righteous, know it all, done it all drivel? I wouldn't hear of it.
There are some people who cannot stand it when anyone ever expresses a firm opinion on any topic at all. Then there those who have major issues with anyone who holds opinions contrary to theirs. And of course we have those who go nuts trying to reason with someone and pin them down for a firm answer on something when that person expresses no opinions at all, a permanent fence-sitter who just follows the opinions of others. Then you have all those Internet trolls…

I am one of those who gets burned up when people spout off loudly about what they deserve or are entitled to have. I do not like whiners when it comes to work-related issues. I have a low tolerance for those who have low ethical standards in their musical career, whether that evince itself through the sleeping with students or selling students expensive equipment because "you will never win an audition unless you have one of these horns." I have a great deal of personal trouble coping with those who crap all over others in a display of self-involvement through bad parking, allowing their children to make and leave unforgivable messes in restaurants because "they are paid to clean that up." I hate anyone who has ever, EVER talked on or texted with a cell phone in a movie theater, EVER, even once. That is the sort of scummy, self-involvement that screams "I am better and more important than anyone else in here." It deserves a public spanking.

I hate permissive, bad parents who try to be a buddy of their kids and not the parent and living, breathing example of an adult to them instead. I also hate to have to deal with the kids of these wackos. Nothing is worse than the arrogance of such a child in relation to their elders.

So I express myself here regarding such stuff frequently. I sometimes go after rotten behavior or obviously selfish, stupid or scummy attitudes or behaviors expressed by some of our members. I am not holier than thou in my attitudes. I am VERY hard on myself and get very upset when I do something that was truly wrong or selfish and I live a life that is very different from when I was younger, partially because I was roundly and loudly "corrected" many times by an older colleague here who I now trust and respect quite a bit. I thought that this guy was a turd and a jerk when I moved here. Then I overheard him laughing about his curmudgeonlyness with another of our oder players. I learned why he was like he was and realized that I had not just pissed him off several times, but that I had been the *** and had been smacked down. This was a shock to me. Now I am the curmudgeon. And now I piss off the kiddies. And now I laugh about it while the steam and call me names.

I did not have a father, so it took a lot of trial and tons of error for me to learn how to be a real man. My weak ethics that allowed me to skip paying bills and debts while spending on what I wanted to do, that allowed me to engage in activities that were very harmful to my person while doing nothing good for my friends and family, that allowed me to engage in immoral or amoral or unethical activities, and I had to learn how to shore up my sense of right and wrong through personal example. I taught myself how to act based on a lot of things, but nearly all the things I get pissed about are simple violations of the Golden Rule. That principal has guided me for the last 14 years. It is simple. It is practical. It works. Yet so many disregard such a simple way of thinking.

So my comments, usually intended to get the "victim" to understand why what they said was wrong, what they did was bad, or what they believe will cause them grief in the future, end up making those ho cannot see what I am saying because their desire to do whatever they want without being judged at all (while their actions affect others) gets me into many arguments here. There are some here whom I roundly bashed several years ago that I actually get along with very well now. There are some here who will hate me forever.

I AM TUBENET FOE NUMBER ONE. Add me to your list! Then you can say ridiculous crap and brag about your lame behavior or treat others here disrespectfully all you want and you will never have to read my words when I call you on the carpet for it! Yeah, man! Add the elephant to your Foe list today and receive peace of mind that all your selfish behavior will just get the usual rubber stamp of tacit approval.

TubeNet Foes…

Remember, I am a mean person because I expect people to act decently in public, including Internet forums. I am a mean person. I am heartless. I am cruel. I am a hater.

(hee hee hee hee hee…)

Uncle Beer, you have always been "the man" in my opinion. That poll is your online *iLegacy* and a testament to your being a thinking, breathing man. I congratulate you for it and still marvel at the simpering, insipid shiner who posted it. Congratulations on such a notable accomplishment. I look forward to my earning such a poll one day. It is a mark of success in what your "inappropriate" posting was trying to do.

Wade

To me, the "foes" thing has little, if any, value. I only read the posts that catch my interest. If they are intelligent posts, I take note. I might possibly respond to them. If they are ignorant posts, I have a choice to make. I can either ignore them or have fun with them. Admittedly, some posts are just too easy. The old adage, "like taking candy from a baby" sometimes applies. Regardless, no one makes me read what's on TubeNet. That is my choice. I don't really need a filter to spare me the inconvenience. I can take care of that myself.

For those who would flame my response(or place me in their "foes" category), I would point out that this is how it is for me. How things go for you comes under the "your mileage may vary" category.
