STOP editing in the FOR SALE forum

Sean:
Twice now I have purchased something from a Tubenet member, and was disappointed
when I received the item. (Both times, a mouthpiece.)
BOTH TIMES, I returned to the "auction" to verify the product description, but it was wiped out.
You have some members who will say anything to sell anything, then they edit their
For Sale advertisement while the goods are in transit.
I can't verify the purchase unless I "copied" the advertisement before I purchased the item.
PLEASE STOP US FROM EDITING THE FOR SALE ADVERTISEMENTS.
For the sake of integrity in the descriptions, we will have to live with further details
being added in another Reply.
Sincerely, Bruce

If Sean cannot make this change, I have a suggestion for the near future. Just copy and paste the decription into your first email to the buyer. Then it will be saved in your "sent" folder for safe keeping.

Naw! Can't do that, Ryan. That would be entirely too easy. I'm sorry to have to bring such bad news.

Just hit the quote button when you reply with "PM sent". It is then recorded and the original poster cannot change.

I just noticed that if you hit the pm button on the post with the description, it automatically quotes the post for you.
...but now that i've re-read the o.p., and looked at all of the options, I understand his frustration. Just because you hit the quote button doesn't prove a thing. You can alter the quote once it's in the window. Unless you can remove the edit function for the "for sale" section, there is really no relief here.

I'm agreeing with Yale on this one. The fact is that I have been hit before on misinformation, and I was just hit one more time with misinformation.... I just bought a Sterling Deluxe gig bag from this very for sale forum.
Thinking that I would get the jump on selling my present Tuxedo gig bag, I advertised it in advance of recieving the Sterling Deluxe. On Friday I recieved the Sterling Deluxe and found out that the seller did not measure the bag correctly because I had a 6" gap in the zipper with my horn inside. So I went to the ad for my Tuxedo, and edited it to say that it was not available at this time. Then after I mitigated my damages by selling the Sterling at a Tuba/Euphonium conference, I went to my Tuxedo ad to remove the blurb about "not available at this time." That is when I found that I could not edit my original ad.
Since I could not edit the original ad, I created a new ad for the same item just to show that it was available again.

I find this a bit annoying since I like to tell people my prices upfront so they don't have to wade through my entire post to find the price drop. I also like to change all the prices in my listing to my potential buyers don't get confused.
And if I sell my item I want to be able to mark it as sold so people don't waste my time (or their time) asking me if it is sold.

Consider your descriptions, terms and price thrice; read twice, post once. If the price drops, email Sean and let him edit it for you.

Okay, BTW, how many of these requests will Sean tolerate before putting the "edit" button back on the For Sale forum? So how do we contact Sean to request posts be edited or deleted?

Surely you just post with the price drop which also acts as a BUMP. Anyone serious about buying will surely read the whole thread. If the original post and price is there, then they can also see the amount of price drop.
I do not see the lack of edit button as that inconvenient. Just review the Preview well before posting!

Hey, we're all entitled to individual opinions and mine differs with you--its inconvenient to me. I am one person who will not page through a for sale post. I expect all of the correct, pertinent, and up-to-date information to be on the first post of the thread.

You are entitled to your position. You are also entitled to miss out on some good deals due to your unwillingness to spend the extra 5-10 seconds. To each his/her own....

I vote to support Sean's change. I'm a firm believer in more information rather than less.
If an OP in the For Sale forum is originally posted with mistakes, then subsequently corrected with reply posts, as I potential buyer I am in better shape being able to read all the original and subsequent information.
I'd like to know, before considering whether to shell out $$$, whether the seller is a dumb-a$$ who can't tell a Miraphone from an M&M without correction from the TNFJ. I'm also in a stronger position as a buyer if I have transparent access to all prices the item was offered for.

Now, ads such as this one

with
incorrect makers stated and accompanying
incorrect descriptions
can no longer be corrected.
Sure it can. Correct the ad before hitting the submit button.
If you need a revision then post a followup to your own thread.
It is much more correctable than a newspaper or trade magazine ad.
As always I offer a full refund for all registration costs.
