Tubenet policy listing?

I am wondering if there is a listing of posting polices here on Tubenet... A good friend was just banned for violating a policy here, but I haven't been able to find a listing of said policies to see what exactly the problem was... I'm sure they are listed on here somewhere, but maybe I haven't had enough coffee yet this morning to stumble across something that's right in front of me...

How does one know if one has been banned? Would you just not be able to log in or would Sean send you a registered email?

I find this interesting because upon registering on tubenet I don't really recall being knowledgable of such matter. I'm sure there was a disclaimer and such when you first log in, but it'd be nice to have an easy reference to double check things and to know what you're doing or not doing.
Interested to hear the response.

The guy who pays the hosting bill says what goes. Simple as that. We are guests in his home, and we should treat it as such.

Definately not trying to ruffle any feathers here just yet... The member in question didn't find out he was banned until he tried to log on, and it simply said he had been banned until a certain date for violating policy... I was just curious to see if anyone could show me where the policy was... Another member sent me a link to Sean's recent posting about on this subject, but unless you read every post it is easy to miss...

Although I know Sean and I see the political world, and other areas as well, very differently, I try to show this respect. I am grateful to him for providing this playground.

It's easy. If you find yourself on vacation or that one of your posts has suddenly disappeared, send an email to the moderators and ask them why. They'll tell you. Often, it's subjective. Always, it's not worth arguing about.

Well, as long as we're taking this tangent from the topic, we really aren't guests in his home (which I'm sure he's very happy about, at least in a few cases!), and it looks like advertisements are paying at least some of that bill. In that respect, it seems like we're paying `in kind' for services, by contributing content. Some of us produce better content than others, for example I'm more likely to check a topic if I see last post by Elephant, so advertising on those pages get more hits.
Others who are more prone to pointless flame bait and the like may also bring more hits than average, but at the same time are likely to foster an unpleasant climate that will, if left unchecked, bring fewer hits in the long run and hence a decline in income. That's one example of a category of members that may be banned once in a while.
I know many of you are devoted to free market economics as a driving principle for everything, so I thought this analysis might be helpful.

Um...so what's wrong with that? If you want to advertise your business on here, then pay for your advertising. If you want to advertise a private sale, you get to do it for free.
Sounds good to me...

Agreed. TalkBass, a site similar to TubeNet except that it's aimed at bass guitar and double bass players, requires that anyone selling anything on the site is required to be a "contributing" member.

I was wondering, just to the side, what the sponsor fees are to help pay for the site
The fee is very reasonable, considering the audience is your exact target. Here's the info that Sean posted when he started the Sponsor program:

That reminds me, I need to send him some more $$

The basic jist is this. TubeNet costs money to operate. It obviously has value to those wanting to get their products out or they would not come here to advertise. I am speaking of everyone from Joe Snuffy selling his old beat up mouthpiece to Brasswind selling Mirafones by the truckload.
I generally only ask people selling products in a commercial venture to help offset the costs of TubeNet by Sponsoring. The asked fee is VERY reasonable and for MOST businesses it can pay for itself with just a few sales each month.
Individuals schlepping some of their old stuff Garage Sale style has been allowed for a long time for free and as of this moment I don't see a need to ask for any fees for that.
The policy should be self evident. I will boil it down to one sentence. "
No commercial advertising without permission."
I do overlook some advertising intentionally of things like schools advertising for teachers or grad student vacancies. Some other educational clinics, recitals, masterclasses, and the like are also generally ok with me as they are non-profit or many times even lose money. If in doubt let me know.
What I really can't tolerate are people wanting to promote a product and feeling entitled to cash in on the high visibility of this website to get their stuff sold without helping to offset the costs of running TubeNet.
I have paid thousands of dollars and hours of time over the years to operate TubeNet. I feel that has value.
Find any other website on the internet and create a new account and start posting advertisements for your business and see how long the account lasts. This is not rocket science.

I don't think James was questioning that policy.
What everyone seems to be asking is: "What are the ground rules for posting? What topics are appropriate? What are the rules regarding sales of musical and non-musical items?"
I would personally like a FAQ on TubeNet policy, even if it was just a sticky post with links to discussion of the topic. At one time, I tried to work on getting one written but it gained no traction. Seems like a good idea to me.
