Following that line of thinking, why not violists (mezzo-instrumentalists, larger than trumpets, oddly-engineered round-bellied instruments)!? :P
Instead of talking to your plants, if you yelled at them would they still grow, but only to be troubled and insecure?

Next thing you know, bloke will want to include string players as well. And if that happens, I'm outta here -- I just couldn't stand all the sax and violins on the forum! :P

Well, we certainly include oddly-engineered, round-bellied instrumentalists (very glad about that!) ... :D

According to the book" The Devil's Instrument", Russia banned Saxophones," as being a decadent instrument," after the Revolution and sent sax players to Siberia. Some escaped and came to America and look what a mess we are in now. Say Joe, how can you make a living playing Euphonium other than being in a service band?

A friend of mine plays BBb bass sax in community band - a really great restored Conn of @1930. There have been times when I couldn't make rehearsal for one reason or another, and he covered the parts for me. He is an honorary member of the tuba section.
