I get a message that my board attachment has been reached. However... I've cleared the attachments from my control panel.

Well... the cache in my user control panel is clean and I still get the message "board attachment quota reached". Guess I just won't post any images!

Re: Board Attachment Quota Reached?
Does that mean me not being able to post is because of everyone else's 'clutter'? The Board TOTAL allocation has been reached?58mark wrote:OK here's the deal. We need everyone to go in an remove old attachments, or replace them with links to an image hosting site. I can go through each individual member and start deleting attachments from your account, but 1, I don't want to, and 2, It would be better if you will figure out for yourselves what is important or not
It's a better idea to not use this site to host images at all, every other forum I'm aware of requires you to use external hosting, the day has probably come that we need to do that here
OK, guys... clean it up!

Re: Board Attachment Quota Reached?
Although I have my own website and can easily link images... I really like the convenince of being able to include an occassional image in my posts.
Most 3rd party hosts are cluttered with advertising and I find them very annoying to say the least.
I suspect that many of the files cluttering TubeNet were put here by folks who don't even visit here anymore. Maybe there's a way to make any image older than 90 days to vanish automatically. That way we could receive the benefit of fresh information.

Re: Board Attachment Quota Reached?
The problem is, that people who post here regularly can not upload attachments.
The limit, (which presumably can not be increased, really??) has been reached to include clutter for as long as the board has been open.
The solution is to cut off uploading images entirely??

Re: Board Attachment Quota Reached?
I realize there are limited options, but deleting all the old attachments here would really scrub clean a LOT of stuff. This board has been around for a long time, and while there is a lot of junk, there is also a lot of great photos posted by people who don't post anymore, people who rarely if ever post, things that exist but have been forgotten about for many years... even posts by people who have passed away. It's messy, but that's just the way it is.
Here's what I think would work:
1) Put out a call for people to delete/post photos elsewhere. People who can write posts all day long (like me) can absolutely be bothered to spend their precious TubeNet time doing this chore.
2) Chances are, you'd get enough people to do enough of that to "un-break" the board for now, and over time, it should hopefully get better.
3) For new posts, make sure that people have externally linked photos. Yes, this means that you and the other moderators will have to moderate and monitor the situation, and make sure that people are following the rules. It's not hard to follow the rules, and people should be able to learn how to do it. After a warning or two, incorrectly constructed posts can be deleted. This would also require all of the rest of us to lead by example, and post things the correct way.
If we do this, all the old stuff can stick around, and new stuff can be added the correct way and everyone will be happy. The "attachment" option will still exist here, but people just need to be responsible and follow the rules.
I think linking uploaded photos is a lot easier anyway:
-- Upload to Photobucket
-- Deal with the popups and ads
-- Click the photo to get a BBS friendly link
-- Paste the link into TubeNet and show the picture... with no need to resize it!

Re: Board Attachment Quota Reached?
I'd love to be a good citizen and delete images I've posted in the past.
Is there a way to search for all of my posts that have attachments? I'd really rather not peruse all 1200 of my posts to find them.

Thanks, done. (Using the method you pointed out, I was even able to delete attachments from locked threads!)58mark wrote:Thanks for asking!
