Thanks for the tip. Unfortunatly when I tried this (using photobucket) I only got the link to show up, but not the picture itself (like on Blokes letter).
-feeling really stupid now-

Assuming you're on a PC (not a Mac): put the mouse pointer juuuust barely to the left of the "http://...", press the left mouse button, then with the mouse button down drag the mouse pointer across the "http://...", just to the right of the link. You'll see the background of the area get dark, and the text get light -- basically reversing the colors. When you've got the link, and nothing else, highlighted, THEN (and only then!) release the mouse button. It's "highlighted". Now press the RIGHT button, move the mouse cursor to "copy", and click the left button.
This sounds complicated just reading it, but once you do it you'll see it's really fairly simple. Remember the left button does just about everything EXCEPT bring up menus. In many windows applications, When you want to know what you can do, the right button will bring up a menu -- this is one of those times.
Good luck!

Here's an example...
I find a picture I want to post (image below found with google search for tuba). I 'right-click' on the image... a window pops up... then 'left-click' on
properties... another window pops up. You should see a URL (or direct link) for the picture. Then I copy the whole link like Joe descibed above (highlight, right-click, copy... it's now on your clip board of your computer). Then I paste the link in the post here by right-clicking in the post area, then click
'paste'.
it should look like this:
http://saxhorneuphonium.free.fr/images/tuba.jpg
(...note: for 'img' to work, it needs to end in jpg or gif)
Next, I highlight the link above... then click on the button above the posting area labeled 'Img' (short for image)... which adds the tags around the link.
Should look like this:
Code: Select all
[img]http://saxhorneuphonium.free.fr/images/tuba.jpg[/img]
That yields this picture...
Hope this helps.
saxhorneuphonium??looks like a tuba...

...but thats beside the point.
First of all, thanks for all the info gentlemen
I understand the highlight concept en the copy/print stuff even though I'm using a Mac. But when I copy the url to the post, highlight it, an press img I only get one img at the end-lika this;
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y248/w ... be.jpg[img]
I can get you to the url, but I can't get you the picture.
Ya'll gettin' tired of me?
Thanks.[/img]

What Chris says will work, as long as you don't go back into your message to do it. It'll always put the tags at the end of your post if you do.
It sounds like the Mac is doing something weird (go figure

) when you highlight and press the 'img' button. I actually don't usually even use the 'img' button at all. I just go where I want to insert the picture, type "[img]",%20paste%20in%20the%20picture%20URL,%20then%20type%20"[/img]". That's all the 'img' button really does, anyway.

Its a mystery-or a Mac thing. If I try typing "

" after it doesn't provide picture or a link to the url.
Going for the "
And as you saw in the earlier mail, I can achive a link.
Getting tired yet?

Wait, you didn't say anything about the quote button. Whats this about??

As you're reading my post, you see the little "quote" button in the upper right corner? That's the one he means. It opens a "new message" window, but with the existing message "quoted", like this :
Doofus wrote:The previous message, blah blah blah...
(it does that by surrounding the message with quote and /quote tags, like this:
[qwote="Doofus"]The previous message, blah blah blah...[/qwote]
(but spell "quote" correctly; I misspelled them so you could actually see the tags)
When he did that, quoting your message in his, the [img]and[/img] tags worked! What that suggests to me is that your Mac is sticking some sort of non-displayable characters into the mix. When formatted, the non-displayable characters disrupt the tag interpretation, but are not repeated in the quote since they're -- y'know -- non-displayable. When quoted, there are those tags, without the non-displayable stuff, but with the url... so the image displays.
Give it a try just typing (no 'img' button!) "[img]"%20and%20"[/img]" immediately before and after the URL.

As I mentioned in the post before (uh-not to get cocky or anything) I did try it with typing, but it still wouldn't fly. Maybe I'll try it again and then just hit the quote.
Curiouser and curiouser.

BTW,
Thanks for all the help. I still can't get it to work, but I REALLY appreciate all the responses.
