What do you listen to?

Post by drow2buh »

As a music major, I usually find it interesting to find out what "popular" bands people listen to, especially tuba/euphonium players. When I say "popular," I'm basically including everything that's not orchestral/band/tuba/classical/baroque/ok you get the idea/enough already.

I have to put "popular" in quotes because I'm sure there will be some strange answers.

Personally, I'm into heavy metal, new and old. My classic favorites are of course Metallica, Megadeth, Iron Maiden, Pantera, etc., but some of the newer bands I love are Trivium, All That Remains, Unearth, Shadows Fall, Lamb of God, Mastodon, Heaven Shall Burn, Children of Bodom, In Flames, The Black Dahlia Murder, and probably more that I'm forgetting, but that'll do for now.

Anyone else?

Mostly, something like this:

According to an article in "The Hearing Review", February 1999, by otolaryngolist Ken Einhorn, up to 52 % of classical musicians and up to 30 % of rock or pop musicians suffer from music-induced hearing loss - in short MIHL.

I'm listening to some brass orchestration experiments Im doing to try to simulate pipe organ low notes with tubas using false tones, pedal tones, and resultant tones.

...Streetlight Manifesto, Yellowcard, Sleeping at Last...
I once saw a video of Yellowcard trying to copy the "Wall of Death" that Lamb of God used to do before their insurance companies made them stop.

The idea is to get the entire standing crowd to split in half then run straight into each other on the singer's count. The Lamb of God version is literally bloodshed and chaos.

The Yellowcard version was like kittens and flowers falling softly together; partly because the video I saw was indoors, but mostly because Yellowcard fans are pansies!

...no offense.

A couple above:

I love classic rock! It's my second passion behind heavy metal.

Doc, you bring up an awesome question - everyone, what is in your car's CD/tape player right now?

Right now in my car CD player is III: In the Eyes of Fire by Unearth.

I don't have a CD player in my house, it's packed up to take to school, but on my computer I was listening to The Fall of Ideals by All That Remains.
