How about bombardonaist? It's no more aggravating to say or harder to remember than tubaist.
If people are going to go to all that trouble, why not have some fun and say fart-hornist? :D
We pronounce it Guf Coast

I thought that "bombardon" was restricted to bass (not contrabass) tubas. At least the parts that I've seen run that way.

I remember a book I read in college, the Treatise on the Military Band by H.E. Adkins, Lieutenant Colonel Adkins mentioned an instrument called a circular bass. From the picture, it looked like your typical, everyday BB-flat helicon.

Published by Boosey & Co., Ltd., in 1931. It's an interesting book if you can find it.
