Question about recording

So here's a pretty off-topic question, humbly submitted before the TubeNet Freak Jury...

Does anyone have any advice for configuring a 3 microphone set-up on a computer (either Mac or pc)??? We'll be recording speaking, mostly, not music, so mic positioning isn't really what I'm looking for. Software recommendations are also welcome. I'm thinking of recording the three mics as seperate files, and then syncing them up later. Would this work, or is there an easier way???

Any help, as always, is greatly appreciated.
