You restriction against classical music eliminated nearly all of my responses, however. None of my classical responses are on my personal list because of the tuba. Indeed, some of them don't even have brass parts let alone tuba. But I was listening to classical music at least from the time I listened to pop, and even some years before I started playing tuba in the 7th grade. The odd thing is that my parents were never really interested in classical music. I remember borrowing a cassette recording of Beethoven's 5th (Schubert's Unfinished on the flip side, both conducted by Ormandy and Philly) from the local library, shamelessly copying it by putting a microphone on my cassette player up to the speaker of my friend's cassette player, and then wearing it out playing it over and over. That was perhaps the year before I started playing tuba.

My third choice (following your rules): Tiny Dancer Elton John.
