That takes alot of guts: to go from a job that's well paying and safe to move into something you love and not-so-well paying.

Good luck to her! I hope she's happy and absolutely adores it!

I imagine she'll get her pension from the Phil plus the new salary. If so,she'll probably be OK financially.Double-dipping is a common thing these days.59 just isn't old anymore.

Does anyone from my generation remember Bobby Sherman?

He sang such songs as "Julie, Do You Love Me?" and "Easy Come, Easy Go" when I was a student at Colton Junior High School (about 37-38 years ago!) He also did some acting. I remember he was in the TV series, Here Come the Brides.

His career never picked up after those two songs. In 1988, he became an EMT and now he works for the Los Angeles Police and San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department as an EMT instructor, training police academy cadets how to bring people back to life.

This isn't quite as startling as a cellist with the NY Phil, but it's nice knowing that someone who felt washed up as a popular performer found a rewarding career somewhere else.
