This is a hoot!

So, this bird walks into the store...

Image

A seagull in Scotland has developed the habit of stealing chips from a neighborhood shop.

The seagull waits until the shopkeeper isn't looking, and then walks into the store and grabs a snack-size bag of cheese Doritos.

Once outside, the bag gets ripped open and shared by other birds.

The seagull's shoplifting started early this month when he first swooped into the store in Aberdeen, Scotland, and helped himself to a bag of chips. Since then, he's become a regular. He always takes the same type of chips.

Customers have begun paying for the seagull's stolen bags of chips because they think it's so funny.

Here's another camera angle:

I think you can hear the bird laughing as he leaves

THAT's funny! Over there, they call those crunchy snacks 'crisps'. 'Chips' are French fries.

I know about the "chips/crisps" thing...

My job at Le Quy Don High School now is to teach kids how to use American English, despite the fact the textbooks come from Cambridge University...

When I started at this job (it's one of four jobs I have), the kids often corrected me for the following...
-writing dates (October 5, 2007, instead of October 5th, 2007)
-spelling of the words color, theater, armor, tire, etc.
-not knowing lift (elevator), lorry (small truck), fortnight (two weeks), boot (car trunk), bonnet (car hood)

I also have to teach them the following:
1. Most Americans are fat, which is OK. Do not stare at them. (I worked hard at losing my weight during the past year. They still think at 5'10" and 180#, I am a big fat slob!)
2. Most Americans don't know either the metric system or Celisius temperatures. Don't be surprised if they tell you that the temperature is 85 degrees on a pleasant day.
3. The majority of Americans are offended by noisy eating. While you might slurp and smack to show your appreciation of the food, the Americans sitting around you are about ready to get sick from what they perceive as your rudeness.
4. Two people in an elevator do not shout at each other in normal conversation when someone else is riding.
