I was going to suggest you get 'Cute pdf writer' and then print the Finale file as a pdf document and insert it into your Word document. But I understand that Mac OS-X comes preconfigured to create and read PDF documents. Why not print the file to pdf and insert it into your Word doc?

O.K. I have done this quite a few times...

In page view, select the graphics tool.
Double click and draw a box around what you want to include.
Pull down the Graphics menu and choose "Export Selection" (save it in whatever format you wish... I use pict).
Paste the pict file into Word and you are done!

If you run into any problems... shoot me a PM.

Hi Carroll,

Thanks for that. You learn something every day. :)

In case tubashaman has trouble in finding the 'graphics' tool (as I did using Finale 2001), here are the step-by-step instructions from the help menu:
  • To export a selected region of music as a graphic (Page View)
    • Choose Page View from the View menu.
    • From the Window menu (pull down), choose Advanced Tools. Click the Graphics Tool. The Graphics menu appears.
    • Double-click and drag to enclose the area you want to export as a graphic.
    • Choose Export Selection from the Graphics (pull down) menu. The Export Selection dialog box appears.
    • Choose a graphics format from the Type drop-down list to tell Finale whether to create an EPS or TIFF file. If you select EPS or TIFF, the PostScript Options or TIFF Resolution settings will be available, respectively.
Here's an excerpt I did in 'tiff' format... but the tiff wouldn't upload to the forum (probably not allowed as tiffs can be very large). So I converted it to a jpg and then attached it.

Thanks Carroll.
