The Navy is better at blowing things up from quite a long way away, but the Marines are much better at blowing things up at close range.

As I'm ex navy I like a good Marine joke* as well as the next sailor, but why are we doing this here?
* Give a marine 2 cannon balls and then weld them all into a 6x6x6 armor plate cube. Come back 20 minutes later and cut a hole in the side of the cube. You'll find that the marine has broken one of the cannon balls and lost the other.

I served in the Naval Security Group in the 60's... at a time when the Cold War was at it's peak. All of our Navy stations also had a detachment of Marines that served in the same specialty. We always joked that the Marines were there to carry out the emergency destruction duties. Starting with the sailors!

Saw a bumper sticker on a retired Marine's car that read:
U.S. Marines - travel agents to Allah
I served three years in the corps. We used to sing:
"Raid the town and kill all the people."
The Marine Corps gives a young man the opportunity to travel the world, meet interesting people, and kill them.
We appreciated the Navy giving us a ride to work.

Between a troop of midget acrobats and a bunch of showgirls/burlesque dancers ?
One is a cunning array of stunts, the other....well, you know.
