Seeking advice/suggestions on new composition

Post by The Jackson »

Greetings, all,

I started working on a little tuba solo (with piano) tonight and I really like what I have so far. What I'd like to ask all of you is just some advice on the writing of it. My biggest cause for worry is the piano part. I'm not a pianist and I don't know if the part is "good" for an accompanist to play. This is a very raw score. I'll start polishing it, finishing off all the notation once everything starts to shape up. What I'm linking is a .PDF of the score I have so far and a .midi file to hear it. This is a short little snippet, about a minute in length, and I think the whole piece is shaping up to be a suite with short-length movements like this.

The .PDF score file
The .midi file

My thanks in advance!

A fine start, there. The piano part is fine, but I would prefer as an accompanist to see the "3+2+2" or "3+4" beamed together, like this:

Not a huge deal, but I think it makes the part more readable. Good luck with the rest!

Thanks for the help! I'll add those parentheticals for all of the irregular x/8 bars.
