SD card reader for TV

Post by tbn.al »

Calling all electronic gadget types......I need to find a SD card reader that I can plug into my HDMI port on my TV to turn it into a giant electronic picture frame. I've been able to find Blu-Ray players that have a card slot built in, but I don't want to spring for another player. I just want a stand alone card reader with a HDMI plug on it. Any ideas?

I might be wrong, but wouldn't there need to be something "between" the TV and the SD Card? There needs to be some sort of software involved, and if the TV doesn't already have a card reader built in, I'd think there has to be something else in the picture...(no pun intended!)

I would expect the reader to come with the necessary software/firmware built in. There are things called media players but they do a lot more than what I want.

Hi,

Not quite what you are looking for but it help. If it has one, connect your digital camera's video output to the a/v or the component inputs on your tv and set it to play a slide show. Not all digital cameras do slide shows but if yours does and has the video out that just might work.

Sometimes I make things harder than they need be. My brother-in-law straightened me out. He has the same TV as I do. There is a USB port on the side. All you have to do is put a jump drive into the USB port, use the software programmed on the TV and you can watch family pictures until you throw up. If you are too lazy to move the pics over to the jump drive you can just plug in a SD card reader/USB and wallah! I really feel stupid.
