After ten days at the repair shop, I picked up my tuba on Friday. Kevin Junk did a terrific job with the horn. The crease on the large bow at the back is gone. The surface has a small amount of scarring, however laquer was put on it and I think it looks fine. The bell was a major piece of hard work to repair. The v shaped dent underneath the bell was removed with out a scratch. The top of the bell on one side has two or three striations across it. Kevin told me that he could continue to work on them but it would be possible to damage the area more by trying
to fix it than just leaving it as it is. I am really pleased with the work he did. Is it in brand new condition?, no it is not and to quote the sardonic Bloke who said about dents and scratches, "When I'm playing it, I can't see them".
Hopefully this horn and I can finally learn to get along, I have been spoiled with my King.
