JADA

YOU'VE HEARD ALL A-BOUT YOUR RAG-GY MEL-O-DIES,
EV--RY THING FROM OPE-RA DOWN TO HAR-MO-NY,
BUT I'VE A LIT-TLE SONG THAT I WILL SING TO YOU,
IT'S GOING TO WIN YOU THRU AND THRU.
THERE AIN'T MUCH TO THE WORDS BUT THE MUS-IC IS GRAND,
AND YOU'LL BE SING-ING IT TO BEAT THE BAND
NOW YOU'VE HEARD OF YOUR "WILL-O'-THE WISP,"
BUT GIVE A LIT-TLE LIS-TEN TO THIS; IT GOES

Chorus

JA DA,(JA DA), JA DA,(JA DA) JA DA JA DA JING, JING, JING,
JA DA,(JA DA), JA DA,(JA DA) JA DA JA DA JING, JING, JING,
THAT'S A FUN-NY LIT-TLE BIT OF MEL-O-DY,
IT'S SO SOOTH-ING AND AP-PEAL-ING TO ME,
IT GOES
JA DA,(JA DA),JA DA,(JA DA), JA DA JA DA JING, JING, JING,

Verse 2

NOW EV'RY ONE WAS SING-ING A HA-WAI-IAN STRAIN,
EV'RY ONE SEEM'D TO HAVE IT ON THEIR BRAIN,
WHEN YA-KA HICK-EY HOO-LA DO WAS ALL THE CRAZE,
WHY THAT'S THE ONE THAT HAD 'EM DAZED.
THE OB-JECT NOW IS FOR SOME-THING NEW,
SOME-THING THAT WILL AP-PEAL TO YOU.
AND HERE'S A LIT-TLE MEL-O-DY THAT YOU WILL FIND,
WILL LIN-GER, LIN-GER THERE IN YOUR MIND; IT GOES....

(This makes for a fun tuba solo, too! One of my favorites.)

The old or new music for TOH?

The old theme is a 1935 song called "Lousiana Fairy Tale" by Mitchell Parish, Haven Gillespie and J. Fred Coots--yes, that's the selfsame J. Fred Coots and Haven Gillespie who gave us "Santa Claus is Coming to Town" .as well as one of my favorites "Doin' the Raccoon".

The New Black Eagle Jazz band has a great recording of this one with Eli Newberger handling the bottom end of a tuba-clarinet duet. I recommend it.

The new theme is called something like "This Old House '97" and I don't think it's been published.

Aw gee wiz, Chuck! Everyone knows a party isn't a party with the Chicken Dance, Jada, Hokey Pokey, Sweet Georgia Brown, and Ballin' the Jack! It's so much fun to play and watch the drunks dance and sing!
