A different restoration project

Post by Tubajug »

My wife and I found this student school desk at a garage sale for $7.00. I'm pretty sure it's made of steel, cuz it's really heavy! Anyway, I thought I'd share a bit of the process!

Here it was at the beginning (I already removed the desk part and the seat).

Another view (it also has a drawer that we need to rebuild to go under the seat).

Here's the metal frame after a whole lot of scraping, sanding and bead-blasting then repainting.

Here are the wooden parts after stripping and sanding (the desk and seat were the same red as the back slat)

Here it is put together (not screwed in or anything, just sitting there)

Cool!

Well... can you fit into it? Last time I tried to sit in something that size, it took four folks to pry the damned thing off me!

Haha, I guess I forgot to mention in the original post that this is for my daughters and will be going in the playroom of our new house when we move in. Although I probably could still fit in it (something for which my wife hates me....). :D
