Surfing YOUTUBE today I found this ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kFqAME7dx58" target="_blank ) Star Trek "movie" . The quality is so-so but I'm such a Star Trek dork I'm gonna watch all of it. The dvd is available for sale as well. It has Walter Konenig and Nichelle Nichols in it as the 2 lead actors.
This has been out since 2008 but I've never heard of it. How did I miss this !?

Re: Star Trek redux ?
The film in question, "Of Gods and Men," was a fan film released in 2008. The same folks are now working on one called "Star Trek: Renegades."
Huge hype and promises, pretty poor quality and acting IMO. You're much better off going to Star Trek: Phase II and enjoying their fan-made episodes.
As for how they could afford to make it, they had a budget like any other project. The actors were all SAG and were paid, but much, much less than "scale." Also, it's illegal to sell DVDs of this or any other Star Trek-derivative fan film. If you see one for sale, run. The most any fan film maker can do is offer a free DVD with a donation to the project.
