Re: phone calls
Well yeah - unless you are still using that system where if you were faxing or using the internet or the facilities
- all the lucky caller got was a "busy signal" for a couple hours. That's one of the reasons people like texts/email because you're not dependent on the other party being there. But you're right about a verbal conversation - it's much quicker/more complete to get all the pertinent details.

Re: phone calls
I have gone more and more to emails for business, not only because of the "he's not there to answer" issue but so I have a copy of exactly what transpired. It is troubling that it has come to that, but it certainly has. A 3 year old saved email saved me thousands of dollars and a whole lot of peace of mind just last year.
I am fortunate to have a great job that feeds my family well, but music feeds my soul.

Re: phone calls
I love the "instant" communication that email and texting offer, with the ability to answer or ignore until I can get to it. I love having the record that email offers so that I can go back to it later and see what was actually said, especially in something that can require precise details. All of that said, I do miss personal contact and try to use the phone as much as I can. I celebrated my birthday earlier this week and received only 4 phone calls from friends and family but got almost 70 Facebook greetings. I don't want 70 phone calls, but a number of those I would have loved have had an actual phone call from.

Kidding... you're right, and it's especially silly at work when people send "me too" emails, or horribly wordy and over-written emails when a 2 minute phone call would do.
It's very ironic to me that with all the time people spend on their cell phones these days, the majority of that time is NOT spent making phone calls (and I'm totally guilty of that). Or, as I like to describe my smartphone... "and you can make phone calls with it, too!"

I am (nearly always) ambivalent toward making phone calls, but I am (nearly always) loath to receive them.

I have heard that some hipsters still have actual f2f conversations, probably mostly for the ironic hilarity of it all.

Bloke's updated phone plan provided this phone upgrade so he's not tied to the house phone with texting disabled by going old school.
