I don't know enough to be *too* much of a help... but see if the card reader still shows up in your device manager. You may want to try reinstalling the driver, or reverting to a previous version.

Not sure if this applies, but does the lock switch on the card prevent it from being read as well? Maybe the switch is in the lock position.
