DC metro will not exceed +20f as a high.

The Potomac is frozen North of the 14th St bridge.

-4 in Southwestern Indiana last night with a high of 7 today. I have two gigs on Saturday with the first one at 8am. It's supposed to be a sloppy mess around then. NOT looking forward to getting out.

Driving is not difficult but this part of The Country just goes ape-**** when there's a few inches of snow on the ground. The schools have been closed since Monday so my bands for Monday and Tuesday evenings were cancelled. We did have brass band Wednesday night but participation was pretty slim.

My 4WD Blazer does just fine in snow. I did have to go purchase a refill of my acetylene bottle yesterday but generally I'm glad that all I have to do to get to work is just go downstairs to The Shop!

Ditto. Coldest actual temperature I've ever felt. I have to say, at some point, cold is cold and you don't notice it anymore. It's kind of freaky to me that there's not a cloud in the sky, the sun is bright (but low), and it's still -7.

I could have picked a grad school in Florida or southern California, but no... I had to choose this one... :P

People like a climate with real seasons, they tell me. I must say I haven't heard that so much in the last couple years, though.

50s for the last two weeks in NW Washington State. Unnaturally warm for February.

Snow is very sparse in the ski areas used by Seattle. 50-75 mi. from Seattle on I-90. Snoqualmie Pass are has three ski areas and none of them are open right now. One of them has 37" total and the rocks and small bushes are sticking out.

People suddenly complain about the cold when they get older.

That's why God invented Florida.

Predicted 66 degrees high today in Berkeley CA. Overlay of Pacific Ocean and San Francisco Bay fog with nice salt-water influence in the air. Perfect walking weather.

How much of that snow ever melted off up there? Or do you still have feet of it hanging around?

The snow from November-79.5 inches did melt, but now we probably have about 4 feet of snow since then on the ground--very hard turning out of a parking lot into traffic due to the fact the snow piles are so darn high and you can't see oncoming traffic....just another day in paradise.... 8)

I resemble that remark. :)

Although I've lived in Florida for over 55 years, my wife and I were thinking about relocating to Raleigh, NC area to be closer to our sons and 7 grand-kids. But we really do feel the cold being older. It was 48F here this morning, currently 58F but will get down to 38F tomorrow morning. I wouldn't dare complain though since it's so much colder north of here.

At Noon Thursday:

- in the greenhouse - 92 degrees.
- in the house - 66 degrees (that's what we keep it at).
- in the shop - 56 degrees (expending LOTS of energy but not sweating!).
- in the buffing room - 38 degrees.
- outside - 8 degrees.
