Anybody done DIY termite?

I have a bathroom wall that I'm pretty sure has termite damage based on little holes. All of Tucson is a termite mound, so if your house has any wood in it, it's not "if" but "when" and "how often." The termite companies do not want to drill because of possible water lines, which is understandable. But they want to fill the wall with a foam that will be wet, and I'm not comfortable with that. So looking for anybody who has successfully done something dry. I'm getting ready to paint this room and was going to spackle over the holes and then realized I need to deal with this first.

I've done it, but it was on a rental that I was fixing up for the owner way back when I lived in Kansas. I told him about the damage, and he was unconcerned, so I spackled over the damage after tapping in some diatomaceous earth. The diatoms cut the creatures and they dehydrate to death. It also stops working once it gets wet. My house in Georgia requires regular spraying for termites, especially the pool house. I have a guy who comes out twice a year because I have wood touching dirt/ground in two of the three structures on the property. I've replaced the floor in the shop/shed, along with some floor joists. The house itself remains undamaged by the pests.

You're the second person who has mentioned DE; I knew it was good for roaches but haven't seen much about termites. It would be far and away my first choice because you can get human grade that is edible and totally harmless (and yes I have ingested some pretty good quantities of it in the past.)
