Musicians' retirement home

Post by hup_d_dup »

Article about a musicians' retirement home in Milan. Thought is might be of interest to TubeNetters, whose average age is probably in excess of . . . well, let's say higher than the adult population at large.

Verdi built the sumptuous Casa Verdi, which opened in 1899, for “old singers not favored by fortune, or who, when they were young, did not possess the virtue of saving.”

i knew a guy here back in the '80s who wanted to do something like that, through the union. He was not in with the union leadership in general, though. No one could use it more - I guess the usual musician retirement plan is a little sketchy.

I don't think I could stay sane in a retirement home for failed singers. OMG.
