I realized something today

That makes two of us.

We all quit this sphere with exactly as much as we had when we arrived.

I feel, that sometimes, there are more important things than financial gain.

Ah...the difference between the "private sale" and the "retail sale."

This happens at all levels, even down to and including garage sale. My philosophy of garage sale is to get rid of the stuff so I don't have to put up with it anymore, and if people will pay me to haul off my junk, all the better. My folks and former in-laws looked at it as a business and would bargain all day long while I went to get myself a beverage, and enjoy the proceeds.

Both are valid approaches, depending on the desired outcome: free space, or cash, or a little of both.

I listed both of these horns on Facebook (not Craigslist) and said in no uncertain terms that I was not interested in shipping them. It was really nice having both buyers come over today and know that when they left, they were satisfied with the purchase.

The car I did list on Craigslist, but I tried something different to cut down on the nonsense. I set up 4 appointments, 2 hours apart. The first person that said they wanted to see the car got to pick his or her desired appointment, knowing that it may be gone by then if they chose a later time. I set up 4 appointments, and when the first person bought the car, or cancelled the other 3 on plenty of time.

Also, i made it very clear in the ad that 800 was a firm price, and if somebody offered me $1 less, I would laugh in their face and sell to the next person in line

That made the Craigslist experience much better

This is a FANTASTIC idea and I'm going to use it next time!!
