The above quote appeared in a different thread (I didn't want to highjack the thread).="fenne1c It may be a tad of a faux pas to publicly post educators' names. Scribbling/blurring out is generally a good way to go, and always err on the side of privacy/caution.
First, I understand that we all, as individuals, are currently losing privacy privileges, for a variety of reasons – not good! This is happening because of the rapid increase in information dissemination, and well as our own carelessness regarding personal information. However, availability of public information is a different matter. The report quoted in the other thread appears to be a high school report card with the instructors names included. The names of high school teachers should be public knowledge and easily available to anyone who seeks them.
At the same time that we as individuals find it harder to safeguard our personal information, we also have government agencies that seek to make it more difficult to access information that should be public. It's important not to play along with this. Although the line can sometimes be fuzzy, it is still a good idea to make distinctions between public and private information.
