Definitely my favorite holiday of the year. Possibly because it covers 2 days, it's non-religious, or even that it always falls on the same day of the week. The turkey doesn't hurt, either.

My wife insists on watching the Macy’s parade.

They finally showed a marching band, Morgan State, high stepping + spats = :tuba:

Back to lame lip-synchers...

Growing up in Baltimore, I've seen Morgan State (magnificent marching machine) probably dozens of times, and knew some of the guys there while I was in college.

Serious about what they do, and a heck of a good time. Very happy to see them on TV today!

This year, we ordered in advance a 22 lb "free-range-non-GMO-fresh-slaughtered" turkey for our gathering, along with stuffing made with gluten-free bread.

I'm not a big turkey fan, but it was absolutely incredible - well worth the extra expense.

My mom made for me a Key lime pie with GF crust (non keto, unfortunately, but I ate it anyway  )

AND, six of my seven kids were in attendance - blessings all around.

Doc, you'll have a great time, I guarantee it.....

Let them get with the program, or go outta business. As for me, I do all my shopping around the perimeter of the supermarket - most of the stuff in the middle is cr@p.

(Personally, I suspect there will always be those who couldn't care less about eating healthy, so it's really a moot point, anyway.)

The lie that "all calories are equal", or even worse, "sugar is not the culprit", has gone on long enough.

We go Kosher for the turkey. It’s pre-brined as well. :!:

i won't bore everyone with my "FAT" stories, but i've always been a clydesdale. not really FAT, just BIG. A diet MD i saw a few years ago said i was ONE person that could truthfully claim to be BIG BONED. so the BMI index doesn't work for me. i've picked up quite a bit of weight in the past 3 or 4 years... and have tried several ways to lose it with little success. maybe this time, i've found it...

i'm down to 1200 calories a day with 20 or less carbs and have lost 23 lbs in about 15 weeks. i fell off the diet thursday and have had to exercise quite a bit of self control to get back on and stay on, but i have. i need/want to lose the weight i've gained the past 3 years on meds plus another 20 (will be college weight of nearly 40 years ago).

this diet has to be a life style, it can't just be a diet...
Congratulations on your weight loss! Sugar, in all of its hidden forms, is what drives obesity, pre-diabetes, and type 2 diabetes, not healthy fats and proteins.

I was diagnosed with celiac disease 5 years ago, so ditching anything with wheat was non-negotiable. Believe it or not, I gained weight, partly due to intestinal healing, but also due to the added sugar placed in GF products, in order to make them more palatable and like their gluten-containing counterparts.

So, I cut them all out, and all sugar and carbohydrates with them. Once my body adapted to a low-carb diet, I found I could go longer periods without eating, so now I can easily fast 16 to 18 hours each day. These things allow your body to create less insulin, and since insulin is key in fat storage (and use of stored fat, too), I was able to lose all of the weight I gained (and more) since going on the GF diet. Now, I consume less calories, yet I'm never hungry, and no longer suffer from the dreaded "brain fog" caused by the non-stop insulin rollercoaster.

There is a wealth of good information available about this on YouTube (specifically by Dr Jason Fung, among others) explaining it far better than I can.
