The other night my son came wandering into the bedroom long after everyone was asleep. We asked him what was wrong. Translating from Jacob-speak, he said, "When we move, how are we going to take the potty where we go pee-pee and poo-poo?"
Apparrently, the kid had been up all night worrying about how we were going to move the toilet! And scared he would no longer have a place to relieve himself! We just explained that out new apartment will also have one, and that the toilet is part of the apartment and stays here.

Children never cease to amaze me with the number of things of which they are aware, and about which they are concerned. As they get older the issues get more significant, and the concerns can have a large impact. This is why it's so important to maintain an open dialog with your children. They need to know that they can talk to you about anything and that you will take them seriously. Being a parent is the hardest job that I will ever have, but probably the most important.

Thanks Joe. I knew I should have left that word out, and I said I will ever have because even though both of my children are over 21 and moved out of the house, they are my children forever, and they know it.bloke wrote:Being a parent is the hardest job that I will ever have, but probably the most important.

Children are indeed amazing... my five year old daughter (even with all the sibling quibbling with her two year old brother) really impressed me the other night. As we were on the way to bedtime, we passed the television and they were showing a Meth bust. There was a little girl being led out of the house by a policeman. When my daughter asked what was happening, I explained that the mommy and daddy were being taken to jail and the little girl would go live someplace safe. She asked about her toys and I told her they would all have to be taken away becuase of contamination. Nothing else was said, so I thought it was over. When I heard her shuffling around at 2:00 a.m. I went in to her room to scold her. She was going through her toy box and gathering toys to give to that little girl. Well, I cried, and what she got was a good hugging instead of a scolding. If we could all take a page from the book of a child, how wonderful a place this could be.
