Just thought I would post this.
Kanye West "George Bush doesn't care about black people"
This was his last statement. It was preceeded by other statements he decided to make on his own definitely not reading the teleprompter.
I mis-quoted Kanye West, sorry, I have fixed the problem.

I believe I'm in Bloke's corner on this one. The Red Cross needs to look at their fund-raising stategies. And the armtwisting tactics of the United Way have caused this tuba player to direct his donations in another direction. Would you believe that I worked for a school district which required me to return a signed United Way form, whether or not I was actually contributing. When I threw the original form away, I was given another one and informed that I was required to return it, signed. Combine this with the intimidation given by the school principal to have a 100% participation as a campus and I was completely turned off. I have not contributed to this charity in more than 15 years.

sick
These comments were just sick. Sick. sick. sick. They do nothing but point fingers in a time where unity and compassion should be the theme. Not political agenda and race. Regardless of where you stand politically, these comments are sick. Trust me, you'll see a book in the near future claiming "the Bush administration planned the death of thousands to strengthen his poll standings" just like you've seen about 9/11. Very sick. And who was Kanye West referring to when he said " they've been ordered to shoot US" ? Is he saying that those who shoot and kill the one trying to save lives are just "keeping it real" as he is? That they are just "defeding their turf"? How could anyone defend these thugs with guns who shoot INNOCENT PEOPLE TRYING TO SAVE LIVES???

Kanye West's statements have nothing to do with NBC or the American Red Cross. He made his own statements that were totally different from the script of what he was going to say. Make up your own minds as to where to donate, but the statements of one person in a position to vent inappropriately should not be used to punish an organization that had nothing to do with such statements.

I know of Adam West....but who is Kayne West?bloke wrote:Kanye West (previously and currently unknown to me) and his behavior/comments have nothing whatsoever to do with my decisions regarding the American Red Cross.Lew wrote:Make up your own minds as to where to donate, but the statements of one person in a position to vent inappropriately should not be used to punish an organization that had nothing to do with such statements.
Must be just another nobody. I like to judge solely based on a person's character. Comments like that indicate a real lack of character.
Maybe he should realize that we're in this thing together, and the only "us versus them" mentality right now should be "helping versus not helping" and the wise choice there is obvious.

Yeah, that too.windshieldbug wrote:Mike "who is just sick of ignorance and prejudice period"Doug@GT wrote:Doug "who is sick of ignorant racists accusing others of being ignorant and racist"
Though, I think the accusations far outweigh the instances.
"Racism" in America is kind of like "Communism." But while McCarthyism died out long ago, Sharptonism/Jacksonism still lingers, and stains the efforts of the country in dealing with a crisis.
For a historical perspective that will take away some of the shock that we feel upon hearing someone accused of racism in 2005, you should all check out David Brooks' column "the storm after the storm" in the New York Times. Allegations like this are nothing new. But we should be less tolerant of such foolishness today than we were a hundred years ago.
