Not comparing Chance to Mozart, but it is odd the Mozart wrote a Requiem just before he died and Chance wrote an Elegy just before he died.
I've played "Var. on a Korean Folk Tune" several times - and heard it performed recently.

It's one of my favorite pieces for Wind Ensemble.

And...while I don't have the part in front of me, I don't recall anything mind-bending, chop-challenging, or knuckle-busting in the tuba part.

It does require a fairly extensive percussion set-up.
