Is that chocolate tuba i see before me?
Covered in bright laquered foil?
If t'twere done when 'tis done,
'Tis well t'were done quickly,
For who knows what gobs of goey
'telltale brown stains dribble upon
my concert dress, and forever damn me
in the eyea and ears of concert goers...

Would the idea of going as Michael Jackson for Halloween be a bad enough idea?

I heard somewhere that he is bad...
Oh, i did end up making a low effort costume where it would have been appropriate to wear a glove on one hand: as a baseball player. For Abbott and Costello's team. Woulda used it in perforance too, but there wasn't room for the string bass...

359 days until the next halloween. Plenty of time to come up with something better.

Is there actually a tubenet thong?

That alone seems like a bad enough idea to merit discussion here. Everyting else is above and beyond the call of duty... Icing on the cake as it were. Whipped cream, with or without a cherry. Or the Tijuana Brass.

If i had such an item... I'd.... put it over water keys if anyone complained about my leaving puddles behind. Yeah. that is what i'd do.Keeping my tuba decent, so that it might return the favor. Musically speaking of course.

It was a running gag here for a while; TubeNet logo on a thong that had been popping up in the ad spaces for some users

I seriously thought that was a mouthpiece puller the first couple minutes I stared at it.

Operating the valves hands free?

Please elaborate.

Would that also allow us to play while driving?

Are cimbassos allowed at tuba chirsmas?

I know trombones are heavily discouraged... Perhaps even prohibited.

But a cimbasso is rare enough that for most it would be "educational".

Or would it be like bringing pie to a knife fight?

Indeed, it is surprising how often "winning" ends up being a bad idea.

And you may already be a winner...

Dinner music for people who aren't very funny.

3 minutes in, to show off the amazing new high fidelity, they run a strativarius through a garbage disposal.

With so many (at least in the new england area) making a big deal about Leonard Bernstein's 100th, i am now sad i missed celebrating Spike Jones'.

Wat about putting the tree on the sousaphone?

That is the direction my "decorate your tuba for tuba christmas" inspiration goes...

And also why i promised myself to get all the music right first.

I don't play the serpent yet. Haven't yet gotten a chance to.

So i don't know... do serpent players oil their fingers so they move faster and seal better?

And what serpent oil would the TNFJ recommend?

(credit to Emmet Otter's Jug Band Christmas for the beginnings of this particular bad idea)

Most serpent players just use the surgical gloves included in the outfits by the Chinese manufacturers...
