I am from New Jersey*, just across the river from NYC.
(But I did live in Nashville in the late 90's, and again since mid 2006.)

That's a bit west of me, but not by too much....the Hut is a 20 minute drive away...though it'll be a long time before I allow myself the pleasure of eating rippers again.

Exit 16E...that's turnpike, not parkway

I'm from the South. If you tell me what a ripper is, I'll tell you about slippery dock and poke sallet.
I am fortunate to have a great job that feeds my family well, but music feeds my soul.

Beautiful morning today, decided to show up late at work and deer hunt. My neighbor's shouting and 3000 terriers (the Stidham hounds) blew any chances. Had a cold bike ride to work.

That's how I look. Smooth head with a beard, no mustache. Can't play the tuba with a mustache plus it just doesn't fill in that well

I marched bari-sax one year in high school...it was the impetus for switching to tuba. I wouldn't wish that on anyone, ever!

I just put on my tux for a wedding gig (I know, Joe, we aren't supposed to wear tuxedos this early.)
My 2 1/2 year old asks me, "Are you joining the circus?"

EDIT: What probably prompted him, is that we went to the Shriners' circus 1-2 weeks ago. The last gig I played a couple weeks ago was all black - my 5 yr old daughter just stares at me and exclaims, "You're all black!"

Yoy COULD say, "No, I just sold you, and this is for the party we're going to have after."
Instead of talking to your plants, if you yelled at them would they still grow, but only to be troubled and insecure?

I'm so angry at myself, I put a crease in my bell today! UGH. I usually treat it like it's glass...I set it down too hard. The crease is light, and can't be seen from 10 feet away, but still, it's a crease. I'll get it removed this weekend.

First time I've ever dented/creased a tuba, although I did put a BIG crease in a bass bone a few years ago. Dropped the whole bell section, and it was Red brass, so it was especially soft. I managed to get 80% of the crease out with my hands and a snare stick. Felt so guilty.

My grandson and I played for an hour at a heritage festival in the little town where he goes to school.
A lot of his classmates came up to hear him.
I usually call the tunes when we play but Casey got fired up and suggested every single song we played.
He called a good set. I didn't know he could do that. 8)
We pronounce it Guf Coast

Just got back from an "Enigma" rehearsal. There are parts of that piece that could be considered a religious experience.

I was just offered a position in my professor's brass band as well as a position in the local youth/college symphony orchestra, both of which rehearse on Monday nights. This is the first time I've ever experienced the phenomenon of having too many gigs. I'm not bragging-- I'm just in shock.

Also my first post in the Update thread. Figured I'd compound my milestones while I had the chance.

I got my first seasonal flu shot ever. Also did my first rear brake job on the truck this week. A good week of new things!
