The federal gov't has lots of problems and issues, but not suspecting terrorism frequently enough certainly is not one of them.

There WERE just plain wackos before there were terrorists...

Yeah. We had our own armed whacko, shot up a Jewish center, one dead and several injured. Islamic name? Well, Arabic or something, anyway, and he's been heard to call himself a soldier of Islam, and a martyr. But he's just a whacko.

and now there are the bold-faced liars and the irrational deniers

This was not about being a terrorist--this is about an officer who received a poor evaluation and was being deployed. He got pissed off and decided to take it out on his fellow soldiers (I suspect he had planning this for some time). To me, this is a form of "workplace violence" which is happening more often and, unfortunately, will continue to escalate.

How about the federal government not issuing a statement suspecting, or not suspecting, terrorism, until they actually have some facts? THAT would be nice, IMHO.

Found this on a different site.
This is what I call "a good start".
Parents bring their son's alto saxaphone into store as its sounding 'funny'. I don't play sax but I do a routine check of all the pads to see if any have come loose, and I check the keys allignment ect ect. I can't find anything out of place on the first inspection. Then I check the high F key. Right next to the pad it a small hole in the brass. I look at it from all angles and ponder as to how that could of happened. The parents know nothing about it. Anyways... that seems to be the problem and the sax is sent away for repair. A few days later the daughter comes to collect the sax. I ask her if its her that plays it and she states that its her younger brother. I ask the question again of how this hole could have possibly gotten there... and her reply was "Dad did it. My brother was practicing a lot and it was really annoying them so he drilled a hole in it to stop him from playing.."

Apparently, some problems are "pre-ventable" ("safe sax"?) ...

UPDATE:

1. I have swine flu.

2. I want a blokepiece and can't decide which one to get.

3. A homeless man told me he was going to "do something bad so he can go to jail and eat" when I left my studio this afternoon.

I passed my PhD qualifying exam on Tuesday. An oral exam consisting of 3.25 hours of questioning on the breadth of my scientific knowledge by my committee was intriguing. My brother and father (both former Naval Officers) equated them to "murder boards."

The high in Bozeman, MT yesterday was 70F.

I would be willing to bet my last nickel that what the were or were not suspecting bore no relationship to what they said they were or were not suspecting.

What, procrastinate? No, sorry -- no time. Have been meaning to procrastinate for a long time, just never got around to it (maybe someday) ...

I have two labs that I need to make up, Geological Time and Streams... I don't want to do either of them... Mainly because I have too many instruments that I want to learn how to play...

UPDATE: Today is our last Football game for this season of marching band, and we have guests with us, 400-500 high school students. I hope we all have fun! :tuba:
